Beep, beep, beep...We awoke to a sunny morning in Thunder Bay. Following a quick breakfast, we went to visit the Terry Fox Memorial. Thunder Bay was the farthest point Terry got on his "Marathon of Hope". It is an impressive memorial, as it should be for such an inspiring national hero. There is a nice view of Thunder Bay's sleeping giant from the memorial. The highway that follows is appropriately called the Highway of Courage. Many people have told me that it's a long drive through the Great Lakes. Now I can say I agree. How long was it? Put it this way...Even Jake feel asleep for a little while, and that's saying a lot if you know Jake :-) A lot of left to right, and up and down, with little variety in the landscape. The view opens up over Lake Superior at times. We left Thunder Bay at 9:45, arrived at Wawa at about 3:15 for lunch, then finally hit Sault Ste. Marie at about 6:15 and checked into the Days Inn. We went to have a look at the "locks" that allow vessels to travel between lakes (Huron and Superior). The pictures below show the locks in action.
Tomorrow, we finally arrive in Deep River to meet up with Grandy and Biker. Following some "recovery time", we will venture off into the Maritimes for some further exploration of Canada.

Good luck on your trip!!!
Friend.
You are doing great progress. Photos are great ... keep them coming. Glad to hear the kids are 'behaving' ...
Tom is impressed that you took all the photos of the football stadiums. We are watching the Lions kick the roughriders a$*. Very satisfying.
Glad to hear you'll be arriving to your destination soon. I'm sure the kids are too.
Drive safe and look forward to hearing of your further adventures.
Giulia & Tom
